Representing: Tamilnadu Java User Group (TNJUG)
TNFOSS Conference 2026 brought together developers, educators, students, industry leaders, and open-source enthusiasts to promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation in the open-source ecosystem. The conference featured technical talks, community initiatives, project showcases, and the Open Source Lab, providing a platform to demonstrate real-world open-source impact.
It was a privilege to participate and present the active community efforts and open-source contributions driven by the Tamilnadu JUG.
My Contribution / Learnings#
- Represented Tamilnadu Java User Group (TNJUG): Presented the community’s open-source initiatives and shared how developers and students can get involved.
- Technical Session on SQLComponents: Delivered a technical session on SQLComponents, a Java-based compile-time ORM. I explained its architecture, features, compile-time safety benefits, and practical use cases.
- Live Demonstration: Conducted a live demonstration showcasing how SQLComponents simplifies database development, prevents runtime errors, and boosts developer productivity.
- Empowering the Community: Highlighted how open-source projects can empower students, developers, educators, and the broader technology community.

- Open Source Adoption & Mentoring: Engaged with attendees by discussing open-source adoption, community building, and collaborative software development.
- Open Source Lab Contribution: Contributed at the Open Source Lab stall by interacting with students, educators, and contributors, observing innovative projects, and encouraging active participation in open source.
- Community Networking: Networked with community leaders and industry professionals, including Samir Kamerkar (Canonical). It was an honor to exchange ideas on mentoring, community growth, and strengthening the open-source ecosystem, receiving valuable guidance and insights.
- Bridging Academia & Industry: Promoted collaboration between academia and industry through community-driven initiatives and knowledge sharing.

Key Outcomes#

- Technology Demonstration: Demonstrated the capabilities of SQLComponents to developers and students, showcasing the benefits of compile-time ORMs.

The conference was an enriching experience that reinforced the value of open collaboration, community-driven learning, and sharing knowledge to grow the open-source ecosystem.
