Spark Social Seminar 2026 @ StartupTN Chennai

Event Summary

I recently had the opportunity to attend Spark Social, the flagship outreach seminar of the 14th edition of the Tata Social Enterprise Challenge (TSEC), presented by StartupTN in association with IIM Calcutta Innovation Park.

The day gave me an opportunity to step outside my usual learning environment and listen to people who have actually been through the startup journey.

Speaker Session at Spark Social Seminar

Hearing about their experiences, the challenges they faced, and what it takes to move an idea from the initial stage to something meaningful gave me a much better understanding of what building a startup really looks like.

Panel Discussion on Building Startups and Social Enterprises

I could relate to many of the experiences shared during the sessions. It made me realise that having an idea is just the beginning. The real journey involves continuous learning, taking feedback, facing challenges, and having the patience to keep moving forward.

One of the most memorable parts of the event was meeting people from different startups. Everyone was working on a different problem, with a different story and a different reason for starting. Listening to them made me realise how something that starts as a simple idea can gradually become something much bigger when you genuinely work on it.

And then came our pitch.

As our turn got closer, the excitement slowly turned into nervousness! šŸ˜„ But standing there and presenting our idea was itself a valuable experience. It taught me that opportunities like these are not just about winning or pitching — they are about putting yourself out there, listening, learning, and improving.

Pitching Our Idea to the Evaluation Panel

One thing I’m taking back from this experience is the importance of the right guidance, mentorship, opportunities, and people around you. A good idea needs more than just execution. The right ecosystem can make a huge difference in how far that idea can go.

At the StartupTN Hub

A special thanks to Sathish Kumar Thiyagarajan Sir, Anand Babu Sir, and Geetha Elango Mam for giving me this opportunity and encouraging me to experience something beyond the usual learning environment.

I’m coming back from Spark Social with new perspectives, valuable lessons, and even more motivation to keep learning, building, and growing.
